Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen chief Asaduddin Owaisi on Wednesday questioned the appointment of Mr Aseem Sawhney, lawyer for the Kathua rape and murder accused, as additional advocate general by the Jammu and Kashmir government.

Soon after his appointment, it was reported that a piece of evidence in the case had gone missing.Mr Owaisi tweeted, “When a lawyer representing accused in appointed as Additional



Advocate General this is bound to happen get ready to hear that all the accused of Kathua 8 year-old girl have been exonerated. It is shocking that evidence is missing from a sealed envelope (sic).”

Mr Sawhney said, “Since July 2, I have not appeared in the case.” He said he was a “chamber counsel”, and his father, A.K. Sawhney, was the main counsel.
