The AIMIM on Friday announced that it has withdrawn its alliance with the party led by Humayun Kabir, citing serious concerns over recent statements that, it said, questioned the integrity of Muslims.
In a post on social media, the party stated that it “cannot associate with any statements where the integrity of Muslims is brought into question,” adding that the decision to sever ties takes immediate effect.
AIMIM further said that recent revelations by Kabir have highlighted the
vulnerability of Muslims in West Bengal, describing the community as among the “poorest, neglected and oppressed,” despite decades of secular governance.
Reiterating its political stance, the party said its objective in contesting elections across states is to provide an independent political voice to marginalised communities.
The party also announced that it will contest the upcoming West Bengal elections independently and will not enter into any alliances going forward.
