Jharkhand: Two police officers have been suspended here for allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 50,000 from the owner of a sand-laden tractor, a senior officer said.

Assistant Sub-Inspector Sanjay Yadav and the officer-in-charge of Barkagaon police station, Suman Kumar, were suspended yesterday evening with immediate effect following a probe into a complaint filed by the tractor owner, SP Mayur Patel Kanhaiyall said.

"In his

complaint, the tractor owner alleged that the Barkagaon OC and the ASI seized his vehicle by force on August 12 even when he had all valid papers. The complainant also said that officers released his vehicle only after receiving the money," Kanhaiyall stated.

Sub-Divisional Police Officer KK Mahato, on the instructions of the SP, carried out a probe into the allegations, leading to the suspension of Kumar and Yadav.

"Mahato submitted his inquiry report on August 16, following which action was taken against the two erring officers," the SP said, adding that any further action in the case will be initiated only after a detailed investigation.
