PM Modi to visit Chennai today

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Chennai today to participate in the 75th anniversary celebrations of the Daily Thanthi newspaper. Tamil Nadu BJP chief Tamilisai Soundararajan informed about this yesterday. 

She said that Union Minister of State for Finance and Shipping Pon Radhakrishnan and others yesterday inspected the arrangements at the Chennai airport. Security in and around Chennai has been tightened in view of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the city.

About 10,000 police personnel have been deployed in security duties. Prime Minister reaches Chennai old airport by Indian Air Force special aircraft by 10 am where



he will be accorded a warm welcome. He is expected to briefly interact with the BJP cadres and then proceeds to the naval base INS Adyar in the city by helicopter. He then reaches the Madras University Centenary Hall by road and participates in the 75th anniversary of prominent Tamil daily “Dina Thanthi.” 

Prime Minister Modi also participates in a family marriage function of the senior PMO official TV Somanathan in the city. He then returns to the naval helipad and reaches the airport and returns to Delhi. Senior officials and central minister Pon.Radhakrishnan yesterday reviewed all the arrangements for Prime Minister’s visit.
