Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said, willpower and workforce are the biggest assets of any nation and once the people decide to bring about change, everything is possible.

Addressing the Grand finale of Smart India Hackathon-2018 through the video-conferencing in New Delhi last evening, the Prime Minister said, innovation has the power to overcome the challenges the world is facing. He said, it is essential to know the root of every problem and stressed on the need to think about out of the box way to solve the problems. 

Mr Modi said, nobody is blessed with all the knowledge in the world and this also applies to Governments. He said, if the governments think that they can alone bring changes is a mistake while adding that changes can be made through participative governance. The Prime Minister said, the government wants to give more autonomy to higher education sector and work is being done to create institutions of eminence in the country.

said, he is happy to know that over half the projects selected during last year's Hackathon have been completed and more are to be completed in the near future. He said, we should innovate more, patent them, make their products easier and take it to the people.

Prime Minister also interacted with students and innovators from various centres including Ahmedabad, Varanasi, Bengaluru and Odisha on the occasion. Youngsters from Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar shared their views on ways to improve road connectivity, especially in the hilly areas. Innovators from Odisha talked about ways to improve skill development among the youth. 

One lakh students from 1,200 colleges are participating in the world's largest Hackathon. The 36-hour grand finale is being held at 28 centres across the country. The Hackathon aims to harness creativity and expertise of students, build funnel for - Startup India, Standup India campaign, crowdsources solutions for improving governance.
