PDP hints at forming new govt with BJP under Mehbooba Mufti's leadership

In Jammu & Kashmir, People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has indicated that it is willing to form a new coalition government with BJP under the leadership of Mehbooba Mufti. 

Chief spokesman PDP Dr Mehboob Beigh clarified that no timeframe has been set by the party about oath ceremony to be taken by Mehbooba Mufti as chief minister of the state. He said Mehbooba Mufti is in profound grief and is yet to come out of it. He said once she is in proper frame of mind the government formation process will



begin. Dr Beigh said Party President is the final authority to decide date for oath taking ceremony. He said there is no stalemate as being projected by the media and terms of Agenda of Alliance already worked out with BJP will continue. 

BJP maintains that it has set no preconditions on the PDP. Meanwhile, senior PDP leader and Member Parliament Tariq Hameed Qarra suggested to the Party President that she must form the next government with secular forces including the Congress to keep away BJP.
