Pakistani troops resorted to firing and heavy mortar shelling in Samba and Hiranagar sectors along International Border in Jammu and Kashmir last night.One BSF Jawan was injured in the cross-border shelling. 

BSF sources told that Pakistani troops started firing and shelling targeting Indian positions and civilian areas in Samba and adjoining Hiranagar



sector around 8 PM last night. 

This prompted BSF personnel to retaliate effectively. Intermittent exchange of fire at some places continued till this morning. 

Around half a dozen border outposts and an equal number of villages have been affected by the shelling.
