Filing of nominations and campaigning is yet to gain momentum for Assembly elections in Gujarat as two major political parties - BJP and Congress have not announced the list of candidates for far. On the second day of filing nominations for the first phase of polling, only 6 independent candidates filed their nomination papers. 

BJP Central Election Committee, which met in New Delhi yesterday, has completed discussion on most of the seats and the party is likely to announce the list of candidates in a couple of days.Gujarat Congress



Spokesperson Manish Doshi also said that the list of party candidates will be declared within a one or two.

The last date for filing nominations is 21st of this month while scrutiny will be held next day. 89 constituencies spread over 19 districts of Saurashtra, Kutch and South Gujarat will go to polls in the first phase on December 9. The last date for filing of nominations is November 21. 

Scrutiny will take place on November 22 and the last date for withdrawal is November 24.
