Kulgam: Two militants are believed to have been killed in a brief gunfight with the security forces in South Kashmir's Kulgam district on Wednesday night.
In another incident, an encounter is underway between the security forces and militants at the Imam Sahab area of South Kashmir's Shopian district. At least two to three militants are believed to have been trapped in the area.
Further details are awaited.
Earlier on Wednesday, suspecting presence of terrorists, the Army and the police launched a cordon and search operation at the Sugan



village of Shopian district.
In a major breakthrough, Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) chief commander of Pakistan along with his accomplice Arif were killed in an encounter with security forces at Hakripora village in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama district on Tuesday morning.
Following this, the separatists had called for 'bandh' to protest the killing of two LeT terrorists and a civilian.
The civilian was killed in protest that erupted following an encounter in which LeT terrorist Abu Dujana and Arif were gunned down by security forces.
