Amaravati: YS Jaganmohan Reddy was unanimously re-elected president of the YSR Congress for a three-year term at the party’s third plenary in Guntur here on Sunday.

Soon after his re-election, Jagan announced the launch of his padayatra which would cover 3,000 km from Idupulapaya in Kadapa district to Ichchapuram in Srikakulam district, beginning October 27.

Announcing the unanimous election, Returning Officer Ummareddy Venkateswarlu said 20 sets of nominations were filed for the president’s post. “All the nominations were filed on behalf of Jaganmohan Reddy and I declare him elected unopposed,” he said.

Jagan would lead the party in the 2019 elections He will visit Tirupati, offer prayers and start the ‘Prasthanam’ emulating his father YS Rajasekhara Reddy.

Addressing the gathering, Jagan announced his party’s agenda for the 2019 elections and listed nine schemes which would be implemented in the State, if he comes to power. The YSRC chief said he would bring back the ‘golden era’ like that of his father YS Rajasekhara Reddy.

The schemes announced by Jagan were YSR Rythu Bharosa under which Rs 50,000 would be given to each farmer holding not more than five acres of cultivatable land. He accused Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu of ignoring the plight farmers by failing to implement loan waiver scheme.

He said under the YSR Asara, the party would return all the money the existing Dwcra group members had paid to the banks. He said the TDP government had diluted the Dwcra groups. YSRC would ensure that the groups get zero per cent interest loans too

He said the existing old age pension of Rs 1,000 would be increased to Rs 2,000 per month. Jagan also announced the ‘Amma Vodi’ scheme for children education which would provide scholarships to students from primary school to degree. He said under the housing scheme 25 lakh houses would be built within five years, adding that the houses would be registered in the name of women on the same day.

He also spoke of Arogyasri, free health scheme, employment and Jalayagnam, under which irrigation projects would be completed.

Vows to impose dry law

Jagan said liquor would be banned in the State in a three-phased manner if the YSRC comes to power.

In the first phase, the number of liquor licences would be reduced and belt shops seized besides increasing the price of liquor. “We will take the issue to the Centre and the courts,” he said. In the second phase, YSRC would set up rehab centres in every constituency to help alcoholics.

In the third phase, liquor would be allowed only in five star hotels and the prices would be increased in such a way that common man would not be able to afford it. An Act would also be passed to punish those violating the law by sending them to jail for seven years.

‘YSRCP win, a certainty’

Amaravati: Affirming that the victory of YSR Congress is a certainty, party leader YS Sharmila castigated that Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and TDP is running away from the reality and

said that people are looking forward to YS Jagan Mohan Reddy to roll in YSR model of governance.

Addressing the packed public meeting at the grounds here on Sunday, she took Chandrababu Naidu to task amidst cheers and a huge round of applause from the audience when she poked fun at the ruling party as she said with a resolute firmness that YSRC will score a thundering victory whenever the elections are held.

What we have, the political opponents do not have; we have the support of farmers, women, students, Dalits, Adivasis, minorities, weaker sections and all sections of people who are drifting away and looking towards Jagananna to fulfil their wish.

The groundswell of support is amplified by the credibility and values of the party which is the voice of the poor and has been fighting for Special Category Status and the belief that YS Jagan Mohan Reddy will bring back the welfare State that YSR had ushered in.

While a welfare State has been YSR’s wish and vision it is the resolve and policy of YS Jagan Mohan Reddy who will make it a reality and we all should be part of the process that will usher in the change, she said.

Chandrababu Naidu cannot look straight into the eyes as he has cheated people on numerous occasions and went back on his poll promises. “You can cheat all the people once but not all the time as you are badly exposed. It worked in 2014 with a wafer thin margin of five lakh votes, which is less the majority we got in Kadapa Parliament seat,” she said.

TDP did not get the votes on the face value of Chandrababu Naidu but the meagre margin was a result of the popularity of the party which he aligned with and that of PM Narendra Modi. Now that his true colours are exposed, he will be washed away in the storm of the ire of the people. Usurping power and party from NTR and taking credit of others has been his wont but people have realised it and he is exhausted of all the tricks, she alleged.

He is known for back-stabbing as he is not valiant enough to face the opponent directly and his stark lies of loan waiver, despite his adverse remarks on agriculture, the turn-around on SCS and rampant corruption will spell doom in the coming elections, she said.

Corruption has been rampant in the Chandrababu Naidu term and he was caught red-handed with audio, video evidence with his ‘briefed me’ talk and has been buying elected representatives with the ill-gotten wealth. His lies will be nailed and people will be happy to see his back and welcome YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, she said.

Later party president, YS Vijayamma recalled the difficult days the family has passed through, the circumstances that led to the birth of the party, the Odarpu Yatra, and the conspiracy of TDP and Congress and the faith people had shown in the family and party and asked them to continue the same in the days to come and sing the requiem to TDP.

It was women power that has come to the fore with Lakshmi Parvathi, Vasireddy Padma and Sridevi Reddy speaking in succession criticising Chandrababu Naidu and appealing the people to bring YSRC to power and strengthen the hands of YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.
