Incessant rains continue to batter Mumbai and its suburbs throwing normal life completely out of gear.Roads, rail and even air traffic continues to remain affected with the civic administration on its feet to provide some relief. 

According to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, the city has already received more than 61 per cent of its average annual rainfall in just the last three weeks. 

Low lying areas like Dadar, Parel, Sion, Andheri and Nallasopara are experiencing heavy water-logging since the last couple of days.
Mumbai’s lifeline, the local train services on the western line have been thrown completely out of track. Train services still remain suspended between Bhayander and Virar due to heavy water logging on the tracks, especially near



Nallasopara. 

Numerous mail trains like Mumbai - Delhi Rajdhani Express, Mumbai- Pune Indrayani and Deccan Express both in up and down directions, Pune Karjat passenger, Bandra Dehradun, Ahmedabad Shatabdi Express have been cancelled; while many others have been diverted. 

Teams of National Disaster Response Force have been helping the railway and civic authorities in relief and rescue of passengers stuck inside trains. Meanwhile, trains services on all the three routes are running with a delay of at least 30 minutes because of speed restrictions due to waterlogging.

In Mumbai’s neighbouring Palghar district, personnel of National Disaster Response Force have launched rescue operations in rain-soaked Vasai taluka which witnessed 240 mm rainfall yesterday.
