The 23rd meeting of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) Council will begin in Guwahati today. The two-day meeting will review the impact of the new tax regime in the first quarter of its implementation. 

Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said, the Council is likely to take up the issue of benami properties during the meeting. He said, the Council will also deliberate to bring the real estate sector under GST for



fixing standard rates in the entire country.

Assam Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said, exemption to small traders, issues related to MRP and the impact of the new tax regime on the small scale industry are among the issues likely to be taken up at the meeting.

Today, a meeting of officials will be held, while the full Council, headed by Mr Jaitley, will meet tomorrow.
