A major fire broke out at a four-storey garment factory in Konanakunte Cross near Metro Cash and Carry on the Kanakapura Road late on Sunday night.
The Fire and Emergency Services pressed 22 fire tenders to douse the blaze. Fortunately, no loss of life was reported in the incident, a senior fire official said.
The fire broke out on the ground floor of Lovable Lingerie Limited, an undergarment manufacturing unit, at Guruprasanna Industrial Area in Doddakalsandara behind the RMS International School at around 8.30 pm.
A security guard of a neighbouring building noticed the fire and billowing smoke from garment factory and informed a passerby Gowrishankar, a civil engineer about

it.
Gowrishankar called the fire services. Initially, only a couple of fire tenders were rushed to the spot. But later they sought for additional vehicles and water boozers as the fire was huge and was rapidly spreading rapidly, a fire official said.
According to the officials, the fire broke out from an electrical panel room on the ground floor and gradually spread to the other two floors sparing the second floor. A large quantity of raw material was stored on these floors except the second one, the official said.
The fire officials suspect a short circuit to be the cause of the fire.
"According to factory workers, goods worth more than Rs 20 crore may have been destroyed in the blaze.
