The festival of Dhanteras is being celebrated across the country today. People consider it auspicious to purchase gold or silver articles or at least one or two new utensils.It is believed that new Dhan or some form of precious metal is a sign of good luck. 

Lord Kuber, the God of wealth is



worshipped along with Goddess Lakshmi today.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has greeted people on the occasion of Dhanteras. 

In a tweet, Mr Modi expressed hope that the day will bring happiness, good health and prosperity in everyone's lives.
