In Karnataka, heavy rain coupled with thunderstorm and lightning killed eight people last night in Kurubarahalli area of Bengaluru. A couple was killed when a wall collapsed on them, a priest was washed away in storm water. 

In Laggare, two persons die due to wall collapse and another one was washed away. 

Traffic snarls and flooding of houses were reported from several areas. The electricity supply company BESCOM received over 5400 power failure complaints including two



incidents of the broken electric pole. 

The rain coupled with thunder storm and lightening struck all across the city causing inundation. In a few areas like Yeshwantpur BMTC bus terminal, Shivananda Circle and many low lying areas like Chandra Layout, Nandini Layout, Hosaguddadhalli, the water level was upto four feet submerging sever vehicles.

Chief Minister Sidaramaiah has announced compensation to the family of those killed in rain-related incidents yesterday.
