Congress party to support BSP nominee in Rajya Sabha polls

In a major development, the Congress on Saturday decided to support BSP candidate Bhimrao Ambedkar for the Rajya Sabha elections scheduled later this month.

Congress Legislature Party leader Ajai Kumar Singh told reporters here that the seven MLAs of the party would vote for the BSP's Rajya Sabha



nominee in the upcoming polls.

Mayawati had recently said that her party would support the Congress' Rajya Sabha nominee in Madhya Pradesh in exchange for the latter's support in Uttar Pradesh.

The BSP has already secured the support of the Samajwadi Party (SP).
