Home Minister Rajnath Singh yesterday assured all bonafide Indians living in Assam of adequate opportunities to enlist their names in National Registration of Citizen. 

In his statement issued in New Delhi on Sunday, Mr Singh assured the people that there is no reason for panic or fear.The Home Minister said the central government wants to make it clear that the NRC, to be published on 30th of this month, is only a draft and after draft publication, adequate opportunity for claims and objections will be available to the citizens. 

Mr Singh said, every individual will get justice and be treated in a humane manner. 

He said that the NRC exercise is being carried out in a totally impartial, transparent and meticulous manner.It is being carried out as per the



directions of the Supreme Court.

NRC is a list of Assam's citizens, which is being d in accordance with the 'Assam Accord' signed on 15th of August, 1985. 

Steps are being taken by the Office of the NRC State Coordinator to publish the final draft on 30th of this month. 1.9 crore people were included in the first draft of the NRC. 

The final draft will be available online as well as at NRC Seva Kendra.  The NRC is being d in Assam to detect the illegal migrants. 

Those names not included in the final draft, they will get an opportunity for claims and objections. 

Assam Chief Sarbanand Sonowal appealed not to panic and also to maintain peace and calm.
