Bombay High Court has granted temporary relief to former Chief Minister Ashok Chavan in the Adarsh Housing Society scam. The court, on Thursday, ordered CBI to stay proceeding against Chavan in the special court until his plea is disposed of.

A division bench headed by Justice R V More was hearing a petition challenging Governor C Vidyasagar Rao's sanction to prosecute Chavan under relevant IPC sections dealing with criminal conspiracy, cheating and Prevention of Corruption

Act.

Stating that it would hear the petition on 21st June and pass an order; the court has directed CBI not to proceed with the matter in the lower court till that time. Chavan is accused of approving additional floor space index for Adarsh society in return of two flats for his relatives.

He was also charged with illegally approving allotment of 40 percent of flats, meant for serving and former servicemen and war widows to civilians.
