Hyderabad: Little did Fasahat Ali and his friends know that a lunch break from the college would turn into a tragedy and haunt two of them for the rest of their lives. Life turned topsy turvy for the trio in a span of just 12 minutes from the time they left college on Tuesday afternoon.

According to police sources, Fasahat Ali and his friends Mohammed Waiz and Danish Javid, all three students of Muffakham Jah College of Engineering and Technology on Road No 3, Banjara Hills had left the college premises at 1:15 pm on Tuesday afternoon. Though they planned to have biryani at a restaurant, there was a change in plan and they went to an ice-cream parlor.

“The time gap from the time they left college, visited the ice-cream parlor, and till the accident was about 12 minutes. They left the college at 1.15 pm and their car met with an accident at 1.27pm,” an official from the Banjara Hills police said, adding that the movements of the car,

both when it left the college and when it met with the accident, were captured by two surveillance cameras present on the stretch from Banjara Hills towards the Punjagutta flyover.

“Two CCTVs, one present at the TV9 News channel office and other installed at the Harley Davidson showroom captured their trip,” he said.

Officials, who have booked a case, are investigating further and said that so far, there was no evidence that the trio was under the influence of alcohol when the accident occurred.

Meanwhile, Fasahat’s autopsy was conducted at the Osmania General Hospital on Wednesday afternoon. The body was handed over to his uncles, with his parents, still in a state of shock, not going to the hospital.

Fasahat’s father Jahangir Ali is a retired employee and a Dubai returnee. His siblings are settled abroad. It’s learnt that the car was gifted to Fasahat.
