All eligible refund claims will be sanctioned at earliest: Arun Jaitley

The government has assured the exporting community that all their eligible refund claims will be considered and sanctioned at the earliest. 

In a statement, the Finance Ministry said, it has been noticed that unverified estimates of pending GST refunds on account of exports are published in the media or put forward by various trade bodies. The Ministry said, these figures are highly speculative and mostly inaccurate. 

It said, the government has taken various steps, including amendments



in the rules and changes in the business procedures, to overcome the causes of the delay in sanctioning of refunds.

The GST Council, in its last meeting, had directed all States tax authorities to pro-actively clear refund claims.

The Central Board of Excise and Customs has organised fortnight-long camps, which began on Thursday, across the country to fast-track GST refunds to exporters. The Ministry has requested the exporting community to take benefit of the camps.
