Pakistan former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, his daughter Maryam Nawaz, and Captain (retd) Safdar Awan on Monday filed an appeal in the Islamabad High Court (IHC) against the verdict in the Avenfield case. As per reports, the appeal highlights the legal flaws in the Avenfield judgment.

The appeal even requests the court to declare the accountability court's verdict null and void and release the three convicts on bail.

Sharif's lawyers were in Adiala jail in Rawalpindi on Saturday, to get the legal papers signed. Since there was no time to

reach court on Saturday, the appeal was filed in the court today, the last day for filing appeal against the order that was delivered on July 6 by the Islamabad Accountability Court.

Sharif was awarded ten years in jail while his daughter got eight years of imprisonment along with others ahead of the general elections in Pakistan on July 25. Sharifs have been accused of failing to disclose the source of income for purchase of luxury apartments in London.

Nawaz's son-in-law Capt (retd) Safdar was given a one-year sentence without any fine.
