Expats in the UAE will be allowed to stay back in the country for a longer period of time after their retirement. 

A major shift in the residency policy was announced by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and



Ruler of Dubai after a cabinet meeting on Sunday in Dubai.

The length of the residency period in case of retired expats will  be five years, with the possibility of renewal. The new policy is likely to be implemented from 2019.
