Chennai Petroleum Corporation Limited's standalone revenue for the quarter (adjusted for excise duty) came in at Rs9,788.1cr, registering 43.4% yoy increase. EBITDA for the quarter rose by 41.2% yoy to Rs354.9cr. EBITDA margin for the quarter stood at 3.6% vs. 3.7% in Q4FY17. The net profit for the quarter came in at Rs178.1cr yoy, increase of 4.3%.
• Other expenses and employee cost declined by 6.3% yoy and 12.1% yoy respectively. This coupled with strong sales led to significant improvement in EBITDA.
• Other income declined by 89% yoy to



Rs8.9cr. This was on account of foreign exchange loss of Rs77.4 cr (accounted in other expenses) vs. gain of Rs65.2cr in the corresponding quarter of last year. This restricted net profit growth to 4.3% yoy.
Technical View:
Chennai Petroleum Corporation Ltd ended at Rs. 302.25, up by 1 points or 0.33% from its previous closing of Rs. 301.25 on the BSE.
The scrip opened at Rs. 300.15 and touched a high and low of Rs. 312 and Rs. 297.80 respectively. A total of 24,31,574 (NSE+BSE) shares were traded on the counter. The stock traded above its 200 DMA.
