New Delhi: For the woman once dubbed the 'world's heaviest', treatment and recovery was a distant dream. Financial constraints, her condition which rendered her limbs useless and lack of proper treatment at her hometown in Egypt, further dimmed the prospects of getting help.

But, their constant search bore fruit when India's Dr. Muffazal Lakdawala heard about their predicament and flew the family down to Mumbai.

Thus began Eman Ahmed's slow and steady, albeit bumpy road to recovery. After undergoing bariatric surgery in Mumbai's Saifee Hospital, the 36-year-old was shifted to Abu Dhabi's Burjeel Hospital amid a lot of controversy.

Three months post her arrival in Abu Dhabi, Eman looked in the pink of health – a far cry from her previous self – at a press conference held in the hospital premises on

Monday.

While doctors refused to disclose her current weight, they mentioned that the Egyptian national's physical and mental health had shown massive improvement.

While she still has a long way to go, doctors are extremely hopeful that she will make a complete recovery.

However, new reports have surfaced, saying that Eman Ahmed has lost 65 kilos after her UAE treatment.

Confirming the same, a statement by Burjeel Hospital on Monday said Iman Abd al-Ati has been "gradually recovered" and managed to lose 65 kgs since she entered the hospital as an inbound patient, Xinhua news agency reported.

Her current weight, however, has still not been revealed.

The hospital said that during the eighty days of treatment, Eman is now able to sit in a wheelchair and move her arms.
