From August 1, residents of apartment complexes in Secunderabad Cantonment will have to cough up a lot more toward their water bills. Colonies maintained by resident welfare associations (RWAs) would pay a monthly bill of Rs.10,000, instead of Rs.8,500, as part of the revised tariff.

Those staying in flats will have to pay a water tariff of Rs.450 a month henceforth, from Rs.315. For apartments in lower income

group, an amount of Rs.214 per flat will be collected.

To regularise illegal water connections, SCB proposed collecting Rs.25,000 per flat for regular group, and Rs.15,000 per flat for lower income group apartments. For the slums and basthis (non-RCC buildings), there will be no hike in tariff, but they are to pay Rs.8,500 to regularise illegal water connections.
