Hyderabad: Telangana State Wakf Board has decided to issue notices to encroachers of wakf land attached to the Masjid Nana Bagh, Basheerbagh. The Board plans to proceed legally against the encroachers and seek police intervention in immediate stoppage of ongoing construction.

Board chairman, Mohammed Saleem, who inspected the mosque area, said 5 acres and 10 guntas of land is attached to the mosque. But most of it is occupied by a hospital, school and commercial establishments.

The Wakf Board had complete record about the Masjid Nana Bagh land and there was no question of giving it up. “The matter will be represented to the Director General of Police and GHMC Commissioner and their intervention will be sought”, Saleem said.

He said the illegal occupants of wakf land would be asked to turn tenants or get ready to face legal action. Protecting the wakf property and increasing the Board’s revenue was his prime object, Saleem said and added that he would soon undertaken tour of the entire state to take stock of wakf properties.
