The State government will give Rs 1 lakh loan to nomadic tribes to start a small business, Finance Minister Etela Rajender said here on Friday.

During the Cabinet Sub-Committee meeting on BC Sub Plan, he said after several rounds of brainstorming discussions with stake holders, a final report on BC welfare programmes was prepared and it will be handed over to Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao.

The Minister said based on the Chief Minister’s directions, around 50 meetings were held by involving Speaker Madhusudhana Chary, BC Ministers, legislators and leaders to chalk out a developmental strategy for the BCs. “Chief Minister is committed to giving as much as funds required for the development of BCs in the State and already several programmes targeting BCs development are running successfully,” Rajender Said.

He said the State government did not want bank linkage for the welfare schemes and the Chief Minister is planning to ground the schemes without bank linkages by direct transfer of money to



beneficiaries. 

Rajender said several programmes and schemes launched during the Undivided Andhra Pradesh are confined to the papers due to poor response form the bankers.

Mentioning about the new schemes for Nayi Brahmin community, he said funds would be soon released for modernisation and starting of new hair salons. Adding this, he said funds would also be allocated to Rajaka, Vishwakarma and other sub castes.

Rajender said 2018-19 financial year will be called as welfare year for the Telangana people. “The State government has brought revolutionary changes in the education system and now concentrating on financial assistance schemes in a broad way,” the Minister said.

The Cabinet Sub-Committee members said the new schemes for the BC welfare would be launched after Sankranthi. The schemes would benefit all sub-castes in BCs. Chief Minister will launch the scheme and same will be grounded on the same day in all the districts by the district Ministers concerned.
