Telangana gets its own e-wallet

Fri 02 Jun 2017, 11:57:26
Telangana has become the first state in the country to have its own e-wallet with Telangana IT Minister KT Rama Rao launching T-Wallet here on Thursday. Developed by the State government, T-Wallet is an official digital platform from any state government in the country.

Vijaya Bank is the banking partner for T-Wallet and it provides Escrow account facility for Transaction Analysts (TA), which is a provider of RBI-licensed pre-paid payment instruments (PPI) for the platform.

It’s different from Centre’s Bhim and other digital wallets. T-wallet works on smart phone, feature phone and without phone as well as users can access it from MeeSeva

centres and online portal. T-Wallet doesn’t charge for payments. Citizens can pay utility bills and taxes via the e-wallet,” said Telangana IT Minister KT Rama Rao after launching T-wallet here.

Telangana government has upgraded MeeSeva platform with fool-proof system.

“MeeSeva 2.2 version will be launched by end of 2017. Considering the current transformation towards mobile devices, the state government has decided to bring all transactions available on mobile devices. M-governance will be made available via T app folio soon. T app folio is a one-stop platform for all government services, payments and receipts,” KTR said.
