Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao yesterday said that Rs 1000 pension will be given to Filarial patients in the State. He appealed to the people to keep at bay the spread of viral and contagious diseases.

Participating in a program to mark World Malaria Day in Siddipet here yesterday, Harish Rao gave suggestions to the people to maintain good health and hygiene in and around their houses. He called upon the people for collective efforts to transform Siddipet free from diseases with a focus on sanitation and upkeep of the surroundings. The people should come forward voluntarily to change



Siddipet town free from the problem of mosquitoes and sanitation, he said.

Upkeep of the premises and regular cleansing of nalas and to avoid dumping of garbage or waste material into the nalas will help avoid diseases, he said. Harish Rao said rain water pits will help increase ground water table and overcome the problem of diseases through underground drainages. Every village should take Ibrahimpur as a model and develop it free from sanitation problem, he said, adding that let us route out the mosquitoes like in Sri Lanka and Philippines.
