Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister KT Rama Rao said the 350-km Regional Ring Road (RRR) being taken up in association with the Union government would metamorphose the city.

Besides extending better connectivity, the RRR will aid in the development of Pharma City, 350-acre SME Park and other areas around the city, he said. The Minister laid the foundation for the 12-km radial road connecting Nallagandla to Kollur to facilitate connectivity from the city to the Outer Ring Road (ORR). The project is being taken up by the Roads & Buildings Department at a cost of Rs 100 crore.

He said radial and grid roads were being constructed synchronising with the ORR as this would ensure in the coming up of new financial zones. Many companies, including IT, and knowledge centres were coming up in the west zone and this was resulting in traffic issues here.

To address this, several new

projects and flyovers were being constructed, he said.

“Early completion of radial and grid roads will facilitate in decentralisation of the IT sector in the city,” said Rao. There were plans to extend the existing 1-km growth corridor surrounding the ORR to 2 km to spur development, he said.

Of the 35 radial roads, the HMDA has completed 17 roads. The R&B Department was taking up four roads. The government is prepared to take up the remaining but land acquisition was proving to be a challenge, he said, adding that all these issues would be sorted out soon.

Work on the 1.1-km Kandlakoya junction on the ORR will be completed in a month.

Lashing out at the opposition, R&B Minister T Nageswara Rao said they lacked moral right to question the Telangana government when all efforts were being made to transform Hyderabad into a global city.
