Poll survey predicts big victory for TRS

Tue 18 Sep 2018, 11:05:23
Pre-poll survey has projected a massive victory for the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) in the State, giving the ruling party at least 90 seats in the coming Assembly election, with the margin of variance fixed at plus or minus five seats.

The survey, conducted by Forum for Legal Ambulance Social and Health Service (Flash) for Telugu channel TV5, gave the Congress 15 seats, down from 21 seats the party had won in 2014, with the same margin of variance as the TRS. Compared to the Congress performance, TRS would be improving its 2014 tally of 63 by leaps and bounds. The TS Assembly has a strength of 119 seats, and a showing of 90 in the coming election would mean the party would have 3/4th majority in the House.

Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, whose

policies and initiatives have won acclaim from several quarters in the country, enjoys overwhelming support of the people with 67 per cent of the people giving him the thumbs up for his performance.

In terms of vote share, the TRS has again stolen a march with the survey findings giving the party 44 per cent to 48 per cent, up from 34 per cent in the 2014 election. The Congress too is expected to improve on its vote share from the 25 per cent in the last election to 30 per cent to 34 per cent. What has to be noted here is that the opposition party, which had won 21 seats with a vote share of 25 per cent in 2014, is, however, expected to see a dip in its tally (15 seats), which means that the Congress votes would be spread thin across the State.
