AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi on Wednesday demanded the arrest of suspected ABVP workers who assaulted a college Principal in Telangana’s Nizamabad district for wearing shoes while hoisting the national flag on Independence Day.

The Hyderabad MP urged Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao and Director General of Police Anurag Sharma to act against the culprits.

“Every Bharatiya Janata Party Chief Minister was wearing shoes (on Independence Day). Will they protest and assault them also? The cowards attacked the Principal only



because he is a Muslim,” tweeted Owaisi.“Bloody jokers (sic) ABVP (Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarathi Parishad) says cannot hoist national flag with shoes. Can (they) show the rule in National Honours Act?” he asked.

Mohammed Yakeenuddin, Principal of Government Junior College at Nandipet Ailapur, was assaulted and forced to raise slogans of ‘Bharat Mata ki jai’ by the protestors.The videos shared on social media show attackers raising slogans of ‘Jai Shri Ram’ and some of them even asked the Principal to go to Pakistan.
