‘Mana Nagaram’, a new initiative aimed at addressing civic issues at divisional level and involving the local community in developmental works would be launched in next 10 days, said MA&UD Minister, K T Rama Rao.

Participating in a series of programmes as part of Haritha Haaram here on Wednesday, Rao said these special meetings attended by officials from different departments including GHMC, water board, electricity apart from elected representatives would be held in each division and involve colony associations, area sabha members and others.

Problems aired by locals would be discussed and solutions would be found. “The basic idea is to make citizens partner in development works. Resident welfare associations and area sabhas will have to monitor the works being taken up in their respective

divisions,” he said.

Addressing residents at Satavahana Nagar Community Hall in Hyder Nagar division, the Minister said mere blaming officials or departments would not help solve problems. “Residents have to play a proactive role and they should work as watch dogs,” he said.

The Minister had adopted Hyder Nagar division under Serilingampally Constituency and till date Rs 25 crore had been sanctioned for taking up different developmental works.

When residents appealed for funds for renovation of Satavahana Nagar Community Hall, he responded immediately and sanctioned Rs 50 lakh amid cheers from the residents. The Minister announced that a 1,000-bed super speciality government hospital would be built covering Kukatpally, Serilingampally, and Qutbullapur areas.
