Light showers and thunderstorm across parts of the city, on Wednesday, led to a marginal drop in temperature — from 42.5 degrees Celsius (recorded on Tuesday) to 40.5 degree Celsius. It, however, failed to bring any respite to residents who continued to complain of discomfort owing to an increase in humidity levels.

According to Indian Meteorological Department, Hyderabad, humidity levels shot drastically from 21% to 62% over a span of 24 hours.

The areas that witnessed light to moderate showers include Madhapur, Hi-Tec City, Alwal, Sainikpuri and Yapral. Experts attributed this change in weather condition to the formation of cumulonimbus clouds over

certain areas of the city. “High moisture levels result in formation of rain-bearing clouds that lead to light or moderate rainfall in parts of city.

For the next two-three days, the maximum temperature in the city will continue to hover in the range of 40-42 degrees Celsius,” said Raja Rao, meteorologist at IMD, Hyderabad.

For Thursday, the department issued a thunderstorm warning accompanied by gusty winds at isolated places in the districts of Komarambheem, Mancherial, Peddapalle, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Suryapet, Nalgonda, Mahabubabad, Jaya Shankar Bhupalapalle and Warangal.
