Telangana’s bid to set up India’s largest prototyping and design hub and one of the world’s largest maker spaces — T-Works, which has been in the making for over two years now — will become a reality by the end of 2018 and will house equipment worth $20 million, Telangana IT minister K Taraka Rama Rao said here on Tuesday.

“T-Works is going to be set up in a 2,50,000 sft facility and will have equipment worth more than $20 million with many partners offering their tools, software and equipment,” KTR said at the inaugural of the two-day 17th India Design Summit organized by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) along with the National Institute of Design (NID) and the Telangana government.

He said T-Works will have equipment like CNC machines, cutting machines of all kinds, welding and carpentry tools, PCB assembly machines and 3D printers of all types to help build prototypes and will be open to every

Indian.“T-Works will help in building products in the domains of mechanical, electro-mechanical, electronics and semi-conductors space. It will also help you to build products in the field of automobiles, IoT, avionics, drones, med devices, medical instruments, defence equipment, consumer electronics, telecom, mobile devices, gadgets, sensors,” he explained.

According to KTR, T-Works will become one of the cornerstones in heralding the new wave of entrepreneurs, makers, doers, tinkerers in this country and will emerge as a desired platform to collaborate, foster and fuel new growth engines of the fourth industrial revolution. “T-Works would allow for almost anyone with an idea — young or old, a school student or a graduate or a retired professor, women or men — to collaborate with other talented individuals to convert ideas in their brains, converge their designs on paper or PC and then convert it into a working prototype,” he said.
