Hyderabad: The oldest exhibition of Hyderabad that has endured the test of time ‘Numaish Masnuaat-e-Mulki, is all set to start in the next few days. The annual tryst for ‘shopaholics’ is celebrating its 78th year and is getting ready to offer ingenious products for which only Numaish is famous for.

With just a few days remaining for the inaugural event, the 23-acre Exhibition Grounds at Nampally, the permanent venue of All Indian Industrial Exhibition, literally resembles a war zone, as hectic preparations are going on to get it just right for the opening day.

Despite the mushrooming of malls and changing buying habits, the Numaish has managed to hold its own and has endeared itself to Hyderabadis. In the process, the annual 46-day exhibition that will continue till mid-February has become a much-awaited event in the calendar.

“We have allotted 2,500 retail stalls to exhibitors including State and Central government departments and PSUs from across India. Anywhere between 20 lakh and 25 lakh footfalls are expected during Numaish,” says All India Exhibition Society vice-president, P Narotham

Reddy.

The traditional favourites of Numaish like personalised jewellery and garments will be showcased by retailers from Bihar, Assam, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Kashmir and Uttar Pradesh.

“This year, we will have a separate e-automobiles section to promote pollution free vehicles. We also urge customers not to use plastic at the venue for a clean and green exhibition,” says the society secretary, Dr N.V.N. Charyulu.

Women’s Day

The Society will continue with the tradition of encouraging women customers and entrepreneurs. On January 5, Numaish will remain open for only women and the society has plans to felicitate women achievers in a big way.

Many stalls have been allocated to women entrepreneurs across all categories at the exhibition. Pushpa Soni, a personalized jewellery maker from Gujarat and owner of Word Smith Jewellery says “this is the perfect chance for us to exhibit designed jewellery to customers at one and half month long exhibition. The inaugural day is approaching near and we setting up stall”.
