The Hyderabad got some respite from the heat as mercury levels were pulled down by over 5°C by a spell of light to moderate rainfall in parts of the city on Friday afternoon.
Heavy rain was recorded at BHEL, Begumpet, Nampally, Khairatabad, Narayanguda, Trimulgherry and Amberpet.
According to Telangana State Development Planning Society figures, the highest rainfall of 34.5mm was recorded in Trimulgherry, followed by 32mm in Balanagar and 31mm in Quthbullapur and Secunderabad. Several
other areas, including Ramachandrapuram, Musheerabad, Malkajgiri, Amberpet and Himayatnagar, also received rainfall during the day.
Met officials attributed the rainfall to thunderstorm activity. “There is a lot of thunderstorm activity accompanied by gusty winds and heavy rain at isolated places across the state due to which city also received moderate rainfall,” said an official of IMD, Hyderabad.
Met department said conditions will be same on Saturday.
