Heavy rainfall is expected to return to the Hyderabad city by July first week, the Indian Meteorological Department said on Thursday. The Hyderabad last received light to moderate rain on June 23 and hopes of more intense rains soared after IMD issued heavy rainfall warning at isolated places in all districts. But with southwest monsoon weakening over southern districts, including Hyderabad, Rangareddy and Mahbubnagar, the rains disappeared.

“Rainfall is not uniform in all stations as upper air cyclonic circulation extending over coastal Odisha & adjoining areas of northwest Bay of Bengal

& West Bengal now lies over Chhattisgarh & neighborhood tilting southwestwards. Due to tilting of the circulation, it’s influence is higher on northern & eastern districts. Apart from southern districts, all rest are receiving heavy rainfall,” said Raja Rao, IMD meteorologist.

On Thursday, Hyderabad recorded maximum temperature of 33.2°C and minimum temparature of 24.3°C. So far, Komaram Bheem-Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Jagtial, Warangal Rural, Karimnagar, Sangareddy, Medak and Siddipet have received normal rainfall.
