The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has decided to regularise the unauthorised hoardings in an effort to get additional revenue to the tune of Rs 25 crore a year. Now, the GHMC officials are all set to launch a fresh survey to identify the unauthorised hoardings.

According to GHMC officials, there are 2,620 authorised and 3,000 unauthorised hoardings across the city as per a survey conducted last year. The civic body had pulled down unauthorised hoardings and brought their number down to 300 in April this year. A survey conducted recently,

However, showed that there are 2,000 unauthorised hoarding

across the city. When asked about the same subject, a senior GHMC official told that a fresh survey would be conducted to identify the unauthorised hoardings before a new advertisement policy is announced.

All the hoardings would be geo-tagged and tariff would be fixed after imposing penalty on unauthorised hoardings, he said. Permissions would be issued online for all future hoardings. He said that the civic body would now upload the data of all hoardings and private agencies maintaining them. He said that the GHMC would verify the structural stability certificates in order to accord online permission.
