GHMC to plant 1 crore saplings

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has appealed to all government departments and members of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to help plant 1crore saplings this year as per the expectations of the government. “Survival rate of the trees planted will be on top priority. Trees will be relocated if there is road widening“, said GHMC in a



release.

“We have performed beyond expectations by completing 84 lakhs plantation last year while the target was 81 lakhs,“ said GHMC Commissioner B Janardhan Reddy . The civic body has directed all the Zonal and Deputy Commissioners to conduct a meeting with the HOD's of government and NGOs of their jurisdiction for the effective implementation of plantation programme.
