GHMC sets up mobile Reverse Osmosis units

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) set up mobile Reverse Osmosis (RO) units to treat leachate at Jawahar Nagar dump yard. The project has been started on pilot basis with an estimate budget of `1.86 crore.

The existing leachate in the Jawahar Nagar site is estimated as 6.50 lakh kiloliter (KL). The civic body will treat 2,000 KL of leachate per day for one month.Plate and Tube ­ Reverse Osmosis is the technology being used to treat the



leachate.The total quantity of leachate proposed to be treated under this unit will be 60,000 KL with 75% recovery of dispo sable water.

Rochem Seperation Systems Pvt Ltd has been awarded with the work to clean the leachate through e procurement tender process. “Permission was accorded after stabilization of the unit and sample testing by Pollution control board,“ said a top official from GHMC sanitation department.
