Hyderabad: For the forthcoming Muharram procession and festivities of Bathukamma, Dasara and also Sikh processions, the police is making elaborate arrangements across the city.

A total of 5,000 police officers would be deployed in the city of which about 4000 personnel will be posted in south zone for the bandobust arrangements to cover all the events including the main procession of Bibi Ka Alawa – elephant procession slated for October 10.


A coordination meeting was held with various departments and the religious heads assured that they will not create sound pollution or cause disturbance to public.

Hyderabad Police Commissioner, M. Mahender Reddy, said arrangements in coordination with departments like GHMC, Hyderabad Metro



Water Supply and Sewerage Board, R&B, Transco, medical and fire services were being made.

About 20 ‘She’ teams will be deployed to keep a check on women harassment and nearly 1000 surveillance cameras were being installed on main procession route and at Ashoor Khanas.

“Medical teams and fire tenders are also being deployed at all important places to meet any emergencies. Wherever necessary, the GHMC officials will arrange street lighting arrangements and keep roads clean,” Mahender Reddy said on Friday adding that Anti- Sabotage teams, Bomb Squads, Mufti teams, Special Branch teams were also being deployed.

Special arrangements were also being made for Sikh processions at Bahadurpura and Chatrinaka on October 2, police said.
