Cops of the Hyderabad, Cyberabad and Rachakonda commissionerates will deploy around 100 static, mobile and decoy teams across the city to nab the drunk drivers. The special checks will begin at 10 pm on December 31 and continue till early morning on January 1.

Police will also gather evidence against the offenders to present a watertight case before the court. “We will video record the entire drink driving check. If any citizen resists the breathalyser test, we have the option of escorting the individual concerned to the nearest government hospital for blood test,” DCP (traffic) Hyderabad, A Ranaganth said.

We will also subject the drivers entering the Outer Ring Road to breathalyser test,” Rachakonda commissioner, Mahesh Bhagawat said.
