Chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Monday suggested that as part of the forest revival programme, selective medicinal plants should be grown in Vikarabad forest.

KCR reviewed the third phase of Haritha Haram programme with CMO officials on Monday . He recalled that during the Nizam's regime, Vikarabad forest had natural medicinal plants and that was the reason why a Tuberculosis Sanitarium came up there.

The chief minister said that Vikarabad, blessed with nature's bounty , has all the necessary resources to be deve loped as a hill station on lines of Ooty .Mean while, offi cials informed the chief minister that out of the 40 crore target under the third phase of Haritha Haram, 29 crore saplings have been



planted.

The CM wanted another 10 crore saplings to be planted by the end of this month.He wanted more plantations on either side of the Outer Ring Road (ORR). Also, KCR instructed his officials to ready mobile veterinary clinics throughout the state. These mobile clinics should take care of the sheep imported into the state as well as other animals, he said.

In other decisions, collectors were directed to oversee the supply of Bathukamma sarees. The CM wanted supply of sarees to poor women on the occasion of Bathukamma. Officials told him that 50 per cent of the total stock of sarees have already reached the district headquarters and the remaining will reach in a couple of days.
