Chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has put off the state cabinet meet scheduled for Monday and directed ministers to stay put in their districts to take up relief operations with the meteorological department forecasting heavy to very heavy rainfall over the next three days.

KCR also instructed officials to be on alert in view of the heavy rain forecast. He asked chief secretary SK Joshi to issue instructions to all officials to ensure they are present at their work places to coordinate with all departments to take necessary steps.

The chief minister directed that all ministers constantly monitor the situation. If necessary, the ministers should ensure that the required relief activities are taken up.

In view of the necessity of ministers to stay in the respective districts, the proposed cabinet meet scheduled for Monday (July 9) stands postponed, an official statement said.

Meanwhile, heavy rains continued to lash several parts of the state for the second day on Sunday. A number of streams



across the state are in flash floods. Godavari received heavy inflows from Maharashtra too. All village tanks are brimming. Adilabad, Nizamabad, Medak, Warangal and Khammam districts received heavy to very heavy rain.

The India Meteorology Department has said southwest monsoon has been active over Telangana. Heavy rain occurred at isolated places in the districts of Kothagudem and Khammam. It also forecast heavy rains in isolated places on Monday and Tuesday.

Utnoor in Adilabad received 9cm rainfall. Ibrahimpatnam in Rangareddy district recorded 8cm rainfall.

Rains brought cheer to farmers as several dams received copious inflows and a few are overflowing. Kadem, Sathnala, and Komaram Bheem reservoirs are brimming with flood water. Water level in Kadem reservoir stood at 694.54 ft while full reservoir level is 700ft. 

Sriramsagar project too received good inflows. Paddy cultivation is in full swing. About 50% of the crop area has been sown thus far.
