Hyderabad: In a revolutionary initiative to ensure a ‘Healthy Telangana’, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao on Wednesday disclosed his plans to issue health cards to all citizens of Telangana State and also conduct annual free medical check-up for all under ‘Telangana State Health Profile.’ Further, the government will launch free eye camps for all denizens within the next four-five months.

Announcing his plans during a discussion on the Motion of Thanks to the Governor’s Address in the State Legislative Assembly, Chandrashekhar Rao said the entire 3.64 crore population of the State will benefit from the proposed ‘TS Health Profile’ programme. “From the Governor down to the common man and the Chief Minister to Ministers, everyone will be covered under this scheme without any bias based on caste, religion or socio-economic standing,” he said, to the thumping of desks by the members.

The Chief Minister said



the entire medical profiling data of each citizen will be computerised allowing doctors to access the digital health records using the health card of a beneficiary for accurate health diagnosis. “The modalities are being worked out for implementing the scheme soon. We will also conduct free eye camps for all and provide free spectacles and conduct cataract operations for the needy,” the Chief Minister said.

The  telangana government is also preparing modalities for the recently announced insurance scheme providing Rs 5 lakh cover for all farmers in the State, in addition to the ‘Rythu Lakshmi’ scheme where farm investment support would be provided to farmers from next Kharif, he said.

KCR said financial assistance for girls under ‘Kalyana Lakshmi’ and ‘Shaadi Mubharak’ schemes will be enhanced shortly. Currently, the government is providing a financial assistance of Rs 75,116. Responding to a request from the Opposition parties, he assured an increase in salaries of ASHA workers on the lines of Anganwadi workers.
