BRS legisator attacked, KTR terms it as assault on democracy

Former minister and Medchal legislator Ch Malla Reddy was attacked by Congress workers in Lalgadi Malakpet locality in Medchal district when he went there to canvass for the party candidate on Friday. 

Congress workers led by DCC president Vajresh Yadav were alleged to have launched the attack, in which a close follower of Malla Reddy, Delhi Paramesh, sustained head injuries.

The attack on the BRS legislator drew sharp condemnation from party working president



KT Rama Rao, who termed the attacks on opposition leaders as a direct assault on democracy during municipal elections.

Rama Rao spoke to Ch Malla Reddy and Malkajgiri MLA Marri Rajasekhar Reddy over the phone, gathered details of the Medchal incident and assured them of the party’s full support. 

He directed Medchal district president and MLC Shambipur Raju, along with BRS whip and MLA KP Vivekananda, to immediately visit the injured leader and extend solidarity.
