Hyderabad: A six-year-old boy drowned in Chinna Cheruvu Lake in Ramanthapur under the Uppal police station limits here on Friday. According to the police, the boy, S Yashwanth, was the only son of construction labourers, Bharath and Chitti. The couple on Thursday went to work leaving the boy at their neighbours house. The incident occurred in the afternoon when the boy entered the lake leaving his clothes behind.

Uppal Sub-Inspector P Anjaneyulu said Yashwanth went to the lake



along with another boy, Praveen, who stays in his neighbourhood. “Initially, the duo played on the lakeside. After a few minutes, the boy entered the lake. Praveen, who saw him struggling to come out, rushed to his house and informed his parents, who in turn alerted the boy’s uncle Madhu,” he said. However, he was declared brought dead after being shifted to a local private hospital, he added. The body was shifted to Gandhi Hospital morgue for autopsy. A case was booked and the investigation is on.
