City police commissioner M Mahendar Reddy on Friday said that 20,000 cops will be deployed to make sure that Bakrid and Ganesh Chaturthi festivals pass off peacefully. In addition to the 20,000 cops, an additional 5,000 security forces personnel will also be deployed.

The police commissioner appealed to citizens to follow clean practices during Bakrid. Free polythene bags will be given and animal waste should be disposed off in a hygienic manner. This will be taken



away by GHMC staff, he said.

He said cops will geo-tag all Ganesh pandals. QR codes will be provided to these pandals which will be used to verify arrangements. A total of 36 cranes have been arrnaged for immersion at Tank Bund. These will work in three shifts. As many as 12,000 CCTV cameras have been installed in the city as a part of the community CCTV project and 400 cameras will be installed along the main procession route.
