Prime Minister Narendra Modi has congratulated India’s athletes and the men’s badminton team for their performance at the ongoing Asian Games 2023.

PM Modi took to social media platform ‘X’ to congratulate Avinash Sable after he clinched the gold medal in the 3000m steeplechase event in Hangzhou. Sable also shattered the Asian Games record with a timing of 8:19.50.

“An outstanding champion makes India proud again! A fantastic Gold by the unstoppable @avinash3000m in the Men's 3000m Steeplechase Event. I congratulate him for the success. Best wishes for his endeavours ahead,” Modi posted on ‘X’.

PM Modi also lauded the badminton team for their effort against China in the men’s badminton team final. India finished with a silver medal after losing 2-3 against China.

determination have made the nation proud,” Modi posted on ‘X’.

PM Modi congratulated Tajinder Singh Toor as well, calling his performance exceptional. Toor defended his Asian Games crown by winning the gold medal in shotput.

“The phenomenal @Tajinder_Singh3 at his best. Congratulations on a consecutive Gold Medal in the Shot Put event at the Asian Games. His performance is exceptional, leaving us all spellbound. All the best for the endeavours ahead,” Modi posted on ‘X’.

PM Modi also hailed the performance of Murali Sreeshankar, saying he has set a perfect example for generations to come. Sreeshankar won the silver medal in the men’s long jump event on Day 8.

“Congratulations to the amazing Long Jumper @SreeshankarM on his resounding success and clinching the Silver medal at the Asian Games. He has indeed set a perfect example for generations to come!,” Modi posted on ‘X’.

India has now crossed the 50-medal mark in the 2023 Asian Games, finishing Day 8 with 53 medals, including 13 gold medals, 21 silver medals and 19 bronze medals.
